I...I agree with Jenny about tastes being different. I have loved my mother's fruitcake all my life. At 86 years old she continues to make her no bake fruitcake for her children and grandchildren. It's more like eating candy than a cake. We all make sure we make it to Granny's house each year for our small plate of fruitcake. I can't eat it as much now as I did in the past due to the sugar content, but we all look forward to her fruitcake every year. Fruitcake is not to everyone's taste and I will not eat baked fruitcake, but mom's fruitcake is a timeless favorite and is just right for me.Cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08367680563002345323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318414956973608387.post-70512928458476197452013-12-11T08:26:55.417-08:002013-12-11T08:26:55.417-08:00Mickie, I would LOVE some of your uniquely designe...Mickie, I would LOVE some of your uniquely designed chocolate cherries!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05126636177014306632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318414956973608387.post-74666692506233083922013-12-10T20:04:01.986-08:002013-12-10T20:04:01.986-08:00I like the part where he talks about your experien...I like the part where he talks about your experience of tasting a different flavor may not be like someone else's. This reminded me of all the different styles of worship in the world. I don't think mine is the right one, but it is right for me.

Mickie, I will make the sacrifice and help consume the ugly cherry cordials.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10057875724989472112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318414956973608387.post-81196768856976000582013-12-10T10:45:03.616-08:002013-12-10T10:45:03.616-08:00The image by Thomas Kinkade today shows a "mo...The image by Thomas Kinkade today shows a "mother" figure on the porch holding a plate of some kind of goodie. For me, my "tasteful" memories about holidays always revolve around my mother and my grandmother. My mom used to make chocolate covered cherries and "Martha Washington Candy" for the holidays. I have tried to carry on the tradition, but this year's cherries look awful! They taste really good, but now Griff and I have to eat all those 50 ugly chocolate cherries! Like Toni, I usually give most of my holiday goodies away. Hey, Toni--want some ugly chocolate covered cherry candy?

Maybe life gives you ugly cherry cordials, but if you go beyond the coating, you will find heaven.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09739653200413997171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318414956973608387.post-39729356156563432052013-12-10T08:49:27.459-08:002013-12-10T08:49:27.459-08:00That last line says hope and promise for the futur...That last line says hope and promise for the future.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05126636177014306632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318414956973608387.post-45251044189998951052013-12-10T08:45:03.629-08:002013-12-10T08:45:03.629-08:00I spent almost the entire day yesterday baking coo...I spent almost the entire day yesterday baking cookies so when I saw today's topic- oh taste - that is what came to mind, cookies. The baking started some 20 plus years ago when my son was 3. Just decorated sugar cookies back then and now many more as all the kids (and I) had our favorites that just HAD to make the list. Now it is just me making the cookies and it has become quite a chore (it was a lot easier with many hands) but the preparation brings back many memories of happy faces and accomplishment when that cookie turned out just right. The best part was giving the cookies away; sharing your work, creativity and a part of yourself. It's gotten hard the last few years as it seems everyone is on some kind of a diet. I love what the author says today - when we taste the flavors of Christmas we are to be reminded of the sweetness of God's love " think of your taste buds as daily reminders of how we are to experience our Lord's love - with joy, with a shiver of delight, with a prayer of gratitude, and with clear understanding that the joys of Christmas are nothing but a foretaste of the joys to come". That puts a whole new perspective on the giving of cookies - immediate joy in the taste of the cookies and hopOran's promise for the future.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05126636177014306632noreply@blogger.com
