Day 1 - The Season Comes

Hello everyone.  Welcome to the Living Faith Community On-Line Christmas Devotional.  We will be posting for the next 35 days as we reflect and comment on Thomas Kinkade’s book, “Christ the Light of the World”.
Today we begin with Day 1 - The Season Comes, which can be found on page 5 of our book.
Our Bible Verse is:
For the vision is yet for the appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie,
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come.
Habakkuk 2:3

What is the author saying to you on this day?  You may have a special memory from childhood, or of something a friend or family member did just yesterday. You may find something in the verse or prayer that touches your heart.  Perhaps the picture means something to you…  The days’ readings will mean different things to different people. Please share your thoughts  in the comment section below.

  2. The verse from Habakkuk reminds me of how slow the days seemed to pass of from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day when I was 6 years old. Now, time passes too quickly for this Babyboomer.

  3. When I was a child I lived in Massachusetts. One of my fondest memories was of snow. We had a stone wall in front of our house and the stone wall in the pictures reminds me of it. When a heavy snow was fresh, we would make a "fort" with the wall on one side and snow walls on the other 3. We would even make windows in it so we could look out. Of course snow is not as much fun when you have to shovel it!

  4. Traveling home this morning from a fun, family- filled weekend I was exhausted and looking at my phone noticed that today is Dec.1. My first thought was "it's December. I better fasten my seat belt." this evening when I opened my book to page one the first thing I read was "though it tarry, wait for it for it will surely come." my desire is that this Advent season will fall somewhere between 'fasten my seat belt and wait for it"

  5. (I am late posting for Day 1 but...) As I read this passage, I think of all the great things that were in store for me when I accepted God's pace over my own desires. I am amazed at how wonderfully He sometimes saves us from ourselves!
