I love the smell of the Christmas tree. It is especially strong and wonderful the first morning after it is put up. Not only is it the smell of Christmas, but it reminds me of going for hikes in the woods when I was a child.
I love the smells of the Christmas season. I reserve the spicy smelling air freshener for the holidays so no one will be tired of the aroma. Fresh baked cookies, cold air, evergreens, and Christmas dinner cooking provide strong memories. When my girls were small, I relished the aroma of their clean skin while tucking them into bed and reading to them each night. Fragrance can be very powerful when attached to an emotional event. Thinking of fragrance reminds me of the many smells associated with a manger (barn) where animals are lodged and I wonder if anyone noticed those aromas on such a magnificient night.
